Whistler CRANKWORXS: Dual Slalom

Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009-

Crankworxs Whistler kicked off this past weekend with Dual Slalom as the center of attraction.
After some hip-cups during qualifying with the timer, the pro's brackets came out and the pairing was still a bit questionable. Nonetheless, the rider's were excited to hit the course that was dubbed as a giant "pump-track" due to the little peddling that it allowed for.

The competition was tough and the races were tight, making for an exciting show for the spectators. Brian sporting his new Oakley kit met up with Michal Prokop during his 3rd race, a match reminicent of a World Championship finals. Lopes was able to inch out Prokop and move on to the next heat. Sam Hill crashed out and Kyle Strait was looking determined. Lopes hit the gate on his heat against youngster Neko Mullaly, allowing the youngster to finish first on the red course and putting the pressure on Lopes to win the race on the second run.

The finals became an All-American throw-down, the young-gun vs. the living-legend...Strait and Lopes. The two top Americans ready and willing to battle it out for the crowd. Strait riding with a massive grin and Lopes with his signature intensity. The races were tight, but it proved to be Kyle's day...as he jumped off his bike across the finish line...pointing to Brian...shouting "I finally beat you!!"...making everyone around him enjoy this moment with him!
