It was a long 4 days and it is finally over. Best weather ever for the Sea Otter which is saying a lot if you have ever been to this event.
I concentrated on just doing the DH this year. Slalom is always fun, but it takes a lot out of you if you make it to the semi finals or finals, so I took that day off. Today I felt pretty fresh in the DH and had a pretty good run, ending in 5th, 1.1 seconds off the pace of Mick Hannah who was the winner. Greg Minaar was 2nd, Andrew Neetling 3rd, & Justin Leov was 4th, all World Cup DH racers who were riding full on DH bikes. I of course was on my ibis mojo with a Marzocchi 55 up front, 5.5 inch bike, so I was pretty happy with my results.
Thanks to Tom Rogers for the tuning on my suspension, Joe, owner of the Bike Company for coming out and wrenching on my bikes, Crank Bros for inviting Joe and I over some killer dinners cooked by Ruben, & Kenda for hooking me up with a killer spot to park the Lopes 55 Sportsmobile.
Oh, and you have not heard about the Lopes replica ibis mojo that we are raffling off for the Stewardship up in Downieville, go to ibiscycles.com and spend 5 bucks for your chance at winning a 5,000 dollar bike, but most of all supporting a good cause where all the proceeds go to helping the kids and all the mountainbiking trails in the Downieville area.
Off to ibis tomorrow for half the day, then the drive home.
