Philippines Trip begins

Hans and I made it to the Philippines with all our bikes and luggage, which is always a good way to start the trip. It was a long 16 hr flight, non-stop, well actually we had to stop in Guam for an hour to refuel, but didn't even get off the plane.

After leaving Monday night from LAX, we arrived in Manila at 6am Wed. After getting some breakfast, it was straight to the road for the 3 hr drive to Subic Bay where the festival is. It was hard to stay awake after such a long travel day and after building up our bikes we all were out cold for a good 3-4 hours. When we finally woke we went straight to dinner, then back to the room for a shower, some computer time, then it was lights out again until about 6:30a for Hans and 7:30 for me.

After a good breakfast and a short walk to the coffee shop we packed our stuff and headed to the convention center where the festival is based out of. Jeff Jones and I went over and rode the pump track for a bit, then I suited up for a 90min road spin. I got back just in time to do a talk for the locals about what goes into racing the World Cups. As soon as that was over, Hans, Jeff Jones, and myself went to check out the DH course. Nothing to get too excited about. Short, not much flow, very flat, and super tight. Actually think the road race may be more fun, especially since that is at 2p so I can actually sleep in.
