Trip up North

Last week I did a little road trip up to visit the crew at ibis to go over a a few things for 2009 and to celebrate the second of two big goals they had set out to reach for the year. The first goal was reached before Interbike and that this was the realistic one. The second goal was the super dream goal and you would think with the way the economy is right now, it would be far fetched, but ibis hit this one as well. Congrats to everyone at ibis for working hard and achieving their goals.

Some exciting things will be happening for 2009 so keep an eye out for the news!!!!

While up north I also stopped by WTB to meet everyone who works up in Mill Valley and to also talk about signature saddle possibilities.

With some cold weather and good amounts of rain the riding was not at frequent as I would have liked, but I did manage to get a fun mtb ride in with Aaron & Colin who both work at ibis and are great riders. The next day I did a cyclocross race in Santa Cruz, which was super fun. Tom Morgan from ibis came out to race the 35+ A class with me, while Aaron raced the Open A class. Also in attendance was Doug Hatfield AKA "Hattrick" who did the 45+ A class and old school XC & Cyclocross star Don Myra who was racing the 35+A class as well. With some rain coming down, this was my first somewhat wet cross race and of course the first one where there were NO barriers. The barriers are always a good spot for me to make up some time, but of course they didn't put any in and the course really didn't have much in the way of technical sections. Needless to say it was very hard since I couldn't use my skills to put time on the others and guys like Don are super strong. I still put in a strong finish and was happy to have stayed with all the top guys for about 20min before I couldn't hold the pace anymore. I think I ended up 5th probably within 2min of the leaders.

Hope everyone has a great holiday season and gets in as many bike rides as possible!!!
