Peaty, McGrath, Sheckler, Armstong, Fonseca
Peaty was in Laguna Wed & Thur night. Wed night he came over to the house with Mike Redding and we met up with Troy Lee for sushi here in town. Thur. we had a nice breakfast at Zinc Cafe, picked up some art work, test drove a 2009 911 with the new PDK transmission, did a hour XC ride with Hans Rey, and went to watch Mark Peterman from GT get married to his gorgeous new wife Frances.
Friday morning I dropped Peaty off at the airport and spent hours at the Bike Company going through all my parts, organizing my bikes. I just got 3 new ibis frames sent to me and it's always a mission to round up all the parts to build up new bikes, especially when it is a bike you don't normally ride. Yep, got a new cyclocross frame so there are some special parts I need to get for that thing, but should be fun.
Friday night was spent at the TACA event which stands for "Talk About Curing Autism". A great event which was held at the ST. Regis hotel in Laguna Niguel to raise money for this disease that affects 1 in every 150 kids. A few other athletes were part of this event like Lance Armstrong who was the co-host. Lance was amazing in his speech. Ernesto Fonseca, Jeremy McGrath, Ryan Schekler and a few other athletes were also part of the event.
Paula and I put our Whistler condo up for auction to raise money and were happy to raise some good money for the cause. And it was Jim Everet and his wife that bid the highest and will enjoy a week of skiing this winter. For those that don't know who Jim Everet is, he was the quarter back for the LA Rams back in the day when the Rams were in LA and killing it.
Schekler had a friend throwing a party in Newport Beach where Snoop Dogg was playing, so we all rolled up to check that out. It was jammed pack in the club, but we got to see Snoop before we left.
Good times for sure, but late nights and parties are not good when you are doing a 51 mile road ride the next day. My Dr. and I rode out to Fallbrook today to his horse property. Fun ride, but tough. Good thing I didn't have anything left to do today except lay around a relax after that.
