D ville update

I came up to Downieville to get some riding in before the race this weekend, but it really isn't great riding weather. It is hot as hell up here and there is a little bit of smoke lingering around which doesn't make it nice for hard breathing.

I did my first full run today with Mark Weir and some others and it was a long one. Pretty hard to follow because the dust is so bad, but it was pretty fun to finally get to see what all the hype is about. Is it the most fun DH I have ever done, NO, but it will be one of the toughest to race. Not because it is super technical, or knarly, but because there is some tough climbs and a butt load of pedaling. Would be much more of a DH if it ended at about the half way point, because the second half is way more of a xc ride than a dh. But, that is what makes this DH what it is and that is why you will never see Sam Hill winning here.

Hopefully we can get some cooler weather and a bit less smoke and it will make things more enjoyable.
