rock star ride!!!
A couple days ago I went for a mtb ride with Tim Commerford from Rage Against the Machine. Tim is the bassist for the band and is a die hard mtb rider. It was good to finally ride with Tim and witness how into mountain bikes he really is. Within a few minutes of our ride Tim was showing me an uphill log that was about 80 ft long and sat around 3 feet off the ground, which he told me he has rode up. It was pretty technical looking and I was impressed that he would even try this. I watched him try it and crash the first time. I then gave it a go and surprised myself, making it on my first try. Tim ended up conquering it on his fourth try and we continued the rest of the ride.
After some good technical climbs, which he also impressed me by making, we got to the top where there were some more stunts to do. After hitting a nice tabletop jump we eyed up a rocky drop that was very loose and had about a 4ft section you had to drop down to a transition. I went first and it was actually easier than I thought it would be. Tim went next and looked like he had it until his foot came unclipped and he hit the dirt. I watched his kneed slam into the rocky terrain and it didn't look good. Tim got up and his knee was dripping blood. Being the maniac he is he said, "I need to go do that again before my knee hurts". He walked back up and stuck it.
We went back to get him cleaned up after that, so the ride was ended a little short, but I'm sure we will be riding together again soon. His determination & love for riding are great to see. Thanks for the ride Tim!!!
