Olympic Center
A few days ago Chris Powell called me up after spending a day at the training center and riding the Olympic replica bmx track and told me, "I don't know what you have going on tomorrow but you need to put your life on hold and come down to ride the track". I was busy the rest of the night, but drove down to Chris' house, arriving at almost 1am to spend the night and wake up early to go ride the track. The wind picks up out there so by around 11a you have to be done. We got out there around 8:30a and Jill and two other girls were already riding. Chris, Vance, and myself started riding and about 30 min later Mikey Day showed up to show us his mad skills.
Unfortunately I only had until about 10:45a and then I had to make the drive back home, but the course was super fun and very impressive. The jumps are big, but they have huge backsides and your not overjumping them, so as long as you get the speed and sack up, you'll be fine. The girls were riding real well and good to see them jumping some big stuff.
This was only the second day on my new ibis Tranny hardtail, which is riding awsome so far. I can't thank the guys at ibis enough for getting me this bike in time for the 4x races I am about to go do in Europe. It turned out so good and really couldn't be happier.
Anyways, the track was good and can't wait to go back and spend the entire day at the center to get the full experience. Thanks to Chris for telling me I had to come down and to Mike King for getting me special permission to ride the track.
On another note I just got the new 15mm thru axle fork from Marzocchi which is dropping almost a pound off my bike and still providing me with great stiffness for precision steering that you don't get from a Quick Release fork. This is going to be the ultimate 4x/dual slalom fork which standards will be set. Easton also provided me special adapter axle for my Havoc wheels which was easily installed. So these havoc wheels can be used with 20mm, 15mm, and quick release set ups. Pretty damn good!!!
Off to Europe on Tues for a 4x in Poland and then to the first WC in Slovenia.
