LOPES UP FOR KING TITLE
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – August 18, 2007 – Lopes was king for the day after wining the second race of the Jeep KOM 3-race series held at the Maddona Inn. Lopes who qualified with the fastest time, followed closely by Australia's Wade Bootes, found himself in finals with "The Big House", Rich Houseman. Lopes & Houseman battled it out, but Lopes was determined to see it through.
Bootes who was DQed at an earlier heat for hitting a gate, giving him the maximum time differential, was not able to beat Dale Holmes for more than that time said "I wanted to race Brian". No doubt that Bootes & Lopes would have had a great battle.
This win puts Lopes in contention for the overall win. The finals will be held in Beaver Creek, CO Saturday Sept. 1.
Notably absencent was Mickal Prokop & Jill Kintner both who were attending a pre-Olympic BMX race in China.
