MSA Results
Got back 2 days ago from what turned out to be a good trip to Canada. You never know what your going to get in MSA between the rain storms and the bugs, but luckily we didn't get any rain the entire time I was there and the bugs didn't seem too bad.
The course was nothing too special. I wasn't there last year, but I guess they only made a few small changes. With everything being pretty straight forward, qualifying times were really close. I finished 3rd in the quali, but was only .17 behind Jared and .08 behind Dan who was 2nd.
Come race time it really didn't matter too much. The one thing I liked about this course vs. the first two WC's this year is there was actually a bit of a first straight. You actually got to do a little pedaling out the start instead of just dropping down a steep hill.
The first turn was pretty loose and the berm was too far outside to take if you were in the lead heading into it, so most of the action was happening there. Right out of the fist turn was a triple, which was a bit tricky when you went low in turn 1 and weren't clipped in when you jumped it. There was also some action in turn 2 as well, but from there to the finish it was pretty single file.
I won all my races right through to the final from start to finish. Scott Beaumont was 2nd, Polc 3rd, Tartokovic 4th. Graves won the B final after being involved with Scott in crash in the semi's.
Prokop, Roger, and Cedric were missing from the field. CG has a injury which kept him in Europe and the others were doing a bmx race.
In the DH, Hill took the win by 1.7 over Minaar followed closely behind by Peaty. Think Hill now has the leaders jersey, but should be really close between Peaty and Sam.
Bryn had some bad luck the morning of practice, crashing and breaking his wrist. Get well soon Bryn. Hopefully he will be able to make it back for worlds.
Scarlet also crashed in her final run and had to be stretchered off. She will also be out for a bit with a shoulder injury.
Jill was winning going in to turn one and crashed in the loose stuff, so if you were wondering how she finished 3rd, there you go.
And the worse news was that our old teammate on GT and friend Stephan Murray who has won X games and Gravity games in dirt jump, crashed while attempting a double backflip, breaking his neck. He is real bad shape now, so please send a prayer for him.
One week home and off to Austria...
